Kids, Pets and Durability

Vinyl planks are softer underfoot than other hard-surface flooring options, making it easier to stand on for long periods of time. This resilient flooring resists scratches and stains in normal household use, so it’s perfect for a busy household with children and pets.

Vinyl planks often come with warranty options normally around 5 years and under different the manufacture may extend them to a lifetime, based on the specific product you choose and how it’s installed. Some of the products light commercial and commercial warranties.

Floor Care

Caring for a vinyl plank floor couldn’t be simpler. Regular sweeping and occasional mopping with a suitable floor cleaner will keep your floor looking beautiful. Or a quick run around with a steam mop will do. I always suggest that you use super hot water.

Product Cost

Vinyl planks are available at price points to fit any budget. Generally vinyl planks costs, product price and installation price are very low in comparison to hardwood or other flooring types. The costs will vary based on the overall thickness of the product and the thickness of the wear layer. Just remember you get what you pay for.

Design Quality

Expect to pay more for better quality printing, more realistic designs and embossed textures. Embossed designs that replicate the look and feel of the natural material will always cost more than a simple, non-embossed flat surfaced design.

Installation Cost

Most quality vinyl plank installations are much more economical than other floor categories. For a professional installation you will pay anywhere from$20.00 and $30.00 per square metre. This is the installation of the plank only. If you need any subfloor preparation, this will be an additional cost. Remember when it comes to vinyl products, your subfloor is very important, as you will get a mirrored image of that floor when your vinyl product is installed. Rough subfloor, means a rough finish to look at. Flat level subfloor means a great finish and one you will be proud of.

Floor Removal Cost

Don’t forget to factor-in the cost of removing and disposing of your old floor coverings.  Depending upon where you live, the floor you are removing and your installer, budget around $25.00 per square metre to have it removed and dumped. If you are looking to save yourself some money, this is where you can do it, by pulling up and disposing of the existing floor coverings. That way if you need any floor preparation, you can pay the professionals to get it done right. We specialise in all facets of floor preparation.

Installation Options

The installation options available will vary based on the construction of the vinyl planks you choose. There are four types of installation methods for the current vinyl plank products:

  • Modified loose lay (where the vinyl is cut in place and held down in heavy traffic    areas with double-sided tape)

  • Loose lay. You must have the loose lay product for this installation
  • Glue-down with releasable or pressure sensitive adhesive
  • Glue-down with permanent adhesive

whatever type of vinyl flooring you choose, we highly recommend that you use a professional installer using. By doing this you will protect your investment and ensure that you have Absolute Quality Floorcoverings

Installation Considerations

With the new loose lay vinyl planks, they can be installed over almost any existing floor type provided it is smooth, flat and dry.

If you are thinking about a any type of DIY vinyl plank installation, read the installation instructions carefully before beginning and know that vinyl is bulky, heavy and awkward to work with and cutting it perfectly to the size for your room can be difficult for even the most experienced DIYer. .
